(02/15/2009, Chicago, IL) – The Chicago chapter of Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA Chicago) through its outreach project, Gain Peace, has launched a public awareness campaign on Islam by introducing several billboard ads on Islam in the greater south side region of Chicago.
The Islam ad campaign was launched on Feb. 2nd 2009 and will last for four weeks. These billboard ads on Islam are designed to invite interested individuals to visit GainPeace project’s website (www.gainpeace.com) or to call the projects toll free number 1-800-662-ISLAM begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-800-662-ISLAM end_of_the_skype_highlighting for answering questions about Islam or to request a free copy of the Quran and Islamic literature.
Dr. Sabeel Ahmed, Director of GainPeace, comments: “Islam is often a misunderstood religion, leading some to hold bias view of Islam with discrimination and suspicion of Muslims. This ad campaign provides an opportunity for general public to take a fresh and positive look at Islam through simple messages displayed on these billboards.”
Past media campaigns through the GainPeace projects included ads about Islam on billboards on major highways, multiple radio stations, and city buses in various cities around the country and have generated coverage by major media outlets. These ads have resulted in answering many misconceptions and curiosity on Islam from the general public.
